The learner experience

A little curiosity. A lasting understanding.

Explore three chambers of a flooded temple. Find a relic, turn it in quarter turns about the room's own axes, and set it into an opening cut in a different face. The opening never matches the pose it was found in, so the turn has to be worked out before it is made.

Imagine this moment

A relic that reads as an L from the front is carried to a slot in the side wall; one quarter turn about the upright axis and it drops in.

Learning & evidence

The learning objective

Predict how a solid will look after a quarter turn, and recognise the same solid from a face it was not found on.

What understanding looks like

Whether each relic went in first time or after turning to find it, and a closing account of what the three chambers had in common, kept apart.

Adaptation

Different starting points. A shared objective.

The first chamber needs a single turn. The second hides depth behind an outline, so the silhouette is not enough. The third offers two turns that look alike from where the learner stands, and only the whole solid tells them apart.
