The learner experience

A little curiosity. A lasting understanding.

Learners divide equal-height glass panels into different numbers of sections, shade a fraction, and predict which other panels will align. They test the prediction, then construct a matching panel independently.

Imagine this moment

Half, two quarters, and four eighths illuminate at the same height.

Learning & evidence

The learning objective

Locate equivalent fractions at the same position on a number line.

What understanding looks like

Prediction before reveal, constructed equivalent fraction, and explanation of the common value.

Adaptation

Different starting points. A shared objective.

Use a small denominator set and optional alignment guides; extend to improper fractions across more than one whole.
